GODDAMN Orson Welles was such a badass that people believed him when he said aliens had taken over the world.
Thus why he is my hero.

Well done and it still sounds great today 70 years later.
I of course prefer Jeff Wayne's musical version from 1978 with Richard Burton being the narrator. That one has fitting creepy music to the scenes in which the martians first arrive on earth.

3:38 must have scared the living shit out of people back in 1938 who tuned in to listen to the music program only seconds before...
Some even say it was planned in advance as a test on public panic, although I doubt it.

in those times people relieved on the radio and every night the whole family would gather around the radio
But in the end they obviously said it was a joke because people were going to stores and fighting over resources and locking themselves in there houses and stuff

I want my voice to make people kill themselves if I commanded! That would make me ecstatic because then I would never see the people that annoy me ever again. Unfortunately my voice sounds too much like Jim Breur's from "Half Baked" or like Ben Stein's to really "command" anyone. I can't even "command" my dog to be housebreaken. The dog just ignores me as if I'm invisible. |
