you're full of it. if you did any research, you would know that ali was never serious in the gym (per angelo dundee). fact is, holmes avoided page, dokes, coetzee (making a lame ass excuse about apartheid), tate, etc. to be the best you have to beat the best. leroy jones?? lucien rodriguez?? i'll "try telling pacman" that he fought a washed up oscar....

Holmes was owning Ali in sparring for the Foreman fight, 1 yr after turning pro. Try telling Pacman that size matters. Valuev in most eyes just lost to a 46 yr old Holyfield!

Shuddup. Holmes didn't fight the best available contenders during his reign and lost to a blown up light heavyweight! He fought the puny (Leon Spinks), the old (Ali, who in his prime would've handed Holmes his ass), the overrated (Cooney), the bums (LeDoux), the unknown (Rodriguez, Jones) the inexpierenced (Witherspoon), etc. etc.....

Not sure what you mean by playstation 2. Lewis had more than height, he had reach and weight over Holmes. Holmes is the same size as Haye. Look at Haye next to Lewis -big difference. Size does matter. Look at Valuev -all he has is size and he has won a pile of fights. Holmes was knocked down twice as many times as Lewis. And Lewis never, never lost to a little munchkin like Spinks. The expression "reach and height and weight advantages" would exist if they were not advantages.

'All things considered equal' doesnt apply to boxers, its not playstation 2. The height advantage for Lewis would be no factor at all. The Holmes jab would be a problem for Lewis all night long and that's how long Holmes threw his jab. Holmes arm length is just about the same as Lewis - Lewis might knock Holmes down, but Holmes would get up. I can't say the same for Lewis and Lewis would be knocked down as well. Holmes faster hands, better jab, better chin and much better stamina would prevail.

both were champions. Norton just came around at the wrong time in an era when the heavyweight division was stacked. Great fight.
