It's not his fault. The producer of the song chooses who he or she wants to sing what part of the song based on their vision for the song and each individual's voice. It happened all the time with Danity Kane. Although, I do with the others would have gotten to take the lead more often. I have always been course as to what Lance's voice sounds like since he sings bass and you never really hear him, unlike the other guys.
