Yea, rapport is a major factor in hypnosis. Rate of breath is matched, and then used to bring the subject down deeper in many instances. Also, the practioner will look for any subtle cues from you (twitching muscles etc) to see what stage you are at, and then arrange their induction to match that change.

It's also a use of ambiguous language. We prefer to use unconscious instead of subconscious because then we can say something that sounds like "you're unconscious"

Two different things. Un-concious mind actually involves a certain lack of conciousness, unlike subconcious.
