Interesting. I always thought the song refered to Brownsville, TX. In any case, I like both Helen Reddy's version and Tanya Tucker's rendition. If I remember correctly, Tucker's was out a few months before Helen Reddy's.

Is it just me, or does this sound exactly like "Fat Bottomed Girls?"

I wonder if Larry Flint had offred her enough pennies, if she would have rolled over and shown us her bits like Pammy Andserson?.
She obviously didn't give much thought about "the cause" when she sang these lyrics and to 2 other tracks as well. Showing females as being feeble minded and crazy.
Hey, Helen, grow your Veges on Norfolk and let the serious Women take it from here.

Shame, that the fisrt Woman in America to obtain a Credit card, should receive such a tribute for preaching womens rights in one hand and demonising them all all crazy sluts on the other hand.
Go figure?.
I'm confused are you?.

Delta Dawn was written by Alex Harvey and Larry Collins. It is a great song and both Tanya and Helen did good jobs with this song.
