I finally got one because my nose has been so stuffed up that one nostril is completely blocked, but it is so blocked that nothing even comes out the other side. Any tips?

How often is it recommended that one do this? Once a day/twice a day/AM/PM??? Thank you.

The first time I saw my husband do this I was amazed. Then I tried it. It really cleans out your sinuses without the use of drugs. It's great for singers since they want to avoid the drying side-effects of sinus and allergy meds. One word of caution - make sure the water is lukewarm or you might get that water-up-the-nose feeling. Thanks for posting this.

captmicha: if you have ever swum in the Ocean, you'll know that "neti" is more natural than brushing one's teeth, and I have never gotten water in my lungs in the ocean, or doing neti. And, besides the fact that you would be dead without some form of bacteria living in you right this moment, you are using fresh warm water. silly.

The squeeze bottle uses pressure induced into the sinus cavity, and the neti pot uses gravity. Either one used properly gives great results. I used mine with trepidation when I first got it, but after the first use it was fine. No problem. Then I start sucking the water into my sinus cavity per the instructions on the DVD that came with it, and when I got that mastered, I couldn't believe how much better my sinuses were. Best thing I've ever purchased.

I've been using Neti pot salt and Neti Wash Plus from Himalayan Institutes. I've never had it burn my nose, and the Wash Plus is so soothing that I've come to look forward to using it twice a day. After suffering with nosebleeds, infections and congestion for so long, I find the Neti pot to be such a relief that I can't imagine not having one now.

The only problem though with this method is you have to be very careful when you squeeze the bottle. If you squeeze too hard, the solution will go up into your ears. At the same time, you have to apply enough force to drive the solution up the nose and out your mouth. It takes a little bit of practice but once you get it down, it really works great!

Gotta admit, the weasel squeezins was a good one. Things must be awful when it gets to that point.
