ur not african american you can be as black as a tire your white in mind and spirit

The argument is about Constitutional interpretation, not race. Please have a literate person read you the comment. Then have an adult analyze it for you; and then learn to debate beyond third grade name calling. As for "scumbag", I'm thinking of using it on my business cards instead of Esquire. Most people think its more fitting for the profession.

Evilblades: My point, exactly! The words of the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments specifically address ending slavery or involuntary servitude; acknowledging federal & state citizenship; ensuring due process and equal protection under the law; enfranchising black men. A strict-Constructionist interpretation based on the wording of those amendments would effectively defeat those "weird interpretations" you listed above. As for MCain, you're probably right about his Constitutional knowledge.

ANYBODY that agrees with whoopi either needs a 3rd grade diploma or to get their ass deported to North Korea

As an African-American I have to say that Whoopi is an IDIOT!

DPBaumgardner: Do you like being a racist dumbass? I hope so because you are. Scumbag.
evilblades (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
i kinda doubt McCain could recite anything from the constitution by heart. and people have dodged things like that earlier by imposing weird interpretations like "well,,,this doesn't count for black people because the law clearly defines them as property and not humans"
DPBaumgardner (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
What an idiot Whoopi is!! Unfortunately, McCain missed the perfect opportunity to explain the originalist-constructionalist interpretation of Constitution Law. Slavery was outlawed by the 13th Amendment not activist Judges. It is McCain's point exactly. He should haved produced a pocket Constitution and said, "Here you stupid slut, read it, learn it and don't open your until you can do so intelligently!"
CreamyPeach08 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
no she didn't. she has constitutional rights. it's called an amendment. he is talking about the COURT making a legislative decision. it's a process, a balance of powers... that's Mccain's deal.
