Add palm oil plantations as a major cause of destruction. Palm oil extends shelf life of lots of packaged foods. How long do most families need microwave popcorn ( and crackers, packaged cookies and cold cereals like "Cocoa Puffs") to sit on their shelves anyway ? YOU can make a difference every day when you go to the grocery store. Read the ingredients and buy something without palm oil

I dunno if I am missing something but deforestation does not cause earthquakes, maybe landslides because of soil erosion. Another thing that is important is the biodiversity that is being destroyed, especially plants which may be useful for medication
