This song is about the oppression of the Rasta. The dreadlocks was minding his own business being productive. The police stopped him and jailed him because he was Rasta. They jailed him trimmed off his dreads and feed him pork. Rastas do not eat pork and their food have to be Ital.

The original idea of this song is due to Professor Nuts. Lt Stitchie improved upon Professor Nuts' song entitled "Ragamuffin natty dread you ragamuffin" to yield this monster hit (at least in Jamaica). I still like Professor Nuts' song better.
